Toyota 5 spd Trucks from the Eighties and early Nineties have an issue with the shifter get sloppy and makes gear shifting vague. The problem is the bushings in the seat and or the bushing on the shifter tip have just worn out. This is an easy thing to replace. Simply twist the shifter and lift it out to access the bushing.
